Lima, April 8, 2026 — In a day steeped in history and mysticism, members of the Peruvian Association of Inbound and Domestic Tour Operators (APOTUR) participated in the familiarization trip “Lima: Secrets Revealed.” This joint initiative with AGOTUR aimed to enhance knowledge of the destination and rediscover the hidden treasures of the capital’s Historic Center.
The tour featured expert guidance from the Association of Official Tourist Guides (AGOTUR), whose specialists led an immersive narrative that began at the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site and continued along the iconic Avenida Arequipa. During the tour, participants explored the legacy of the Caral Civilization and the influence of the Humboldt Current on Lima’s ecosystem.
A Journey Through Time
Participants experienced an immersive journey through Lima, from the Republican era to the Belle Époque:
Architecture and Values: Strategic stops were made at Plaza Grau and Parque de la Exposición, highlighting the architecture that survived the War of the Pacific and the contrast between the Palace of Justice and the old Panopticon.
Tradition and Bohemian Life: The group strolled along Jirón de la Unión, visiting the iconic Palais Concert and the Gran Hotel Bolívar, birthplace of the Pisco Sour.
Underground Mysteries: One of the most impressive highlights was entering the Convent of San Francisco, where participants explored the catacombs and appreciated the cultural syncretism in the Refectory. Closing in the Plaza Mayor
The itinerary culminated with a profound reflection on the transformation of Lima in the Plaza Mayor, analyzing its history from its founding in 1535 to the mysteries of the “Vapadas Limeñas” (veiled women of Lima) in the Archbishop’s Palace.
This event reaffirms APOTUR’s commitment to the ongoing professional development of its members and the promotion of tourism with high cultural and narrative value.
